Extraordinary Leadership, Dr Gautam Mukunda

Joining us on September 14, Professor Gautam Mukunda, Harvard Kennedy School, will lead an interactive masterclass on Extraordinary Leadership - Performance With Purpose.

This masterclass will explore how organisations can create cultures that produce remarkable performance under the most extreme circumstances and how individual leaders can transform organisations to meet profound strategic and ethical challenges.

The multimedia case 'Terror at the Taj' examines the events of November 2008 when a terrorist attack in Mumbai led to the three-day occupation of a leading hotel and the deaths of 34 people. However, the Taj Mahal Palace hotel received praise in the aftermath of the attacks for the selfless actions of the staff in placing the safety of the hotel's guests before their own and working to save the lives of its guests. This case seeks to address how leaders develop a customer-centric organisation, as well as how an organisation saves its flagship brand after a crisis.

The case study 'PepsiCo - Performance with Purpose, Achieving the Right Global Balance' examines how Indra Nooyi, as CEO of Pepsi, pivoted the the company towards healthy foods and snacks. Here we see how an individual leader takes on an entrenched culture and established business interests in order to face up to an ethical and long-term business imperative.

This Timoney Masterclass is a great opportunity to network with fellow leaders. To facilitate greater learnings from each other, this masterclass will include the option of an overnight stay and networking dinner with guest speaker for an additional cost of €250.

Paddy is an IT industry veteran with 25+ years experience in senior roles in several Irish and international IT organisations including Kainos, NYSE and Neueda. Paddy was previously CEO and Director with Neueda Ltd delivering digital transformation technology to many of the worlds leading financial institutions as well as public sector bodies before selling that business in 2021. After a short break Paddy has now invested in Instil (another indigenous IT business) and joined as COO/Director to commence a growth journey. Currently serves as a voluntary Director and Trustee at NI Hospice & Children’s Hospice
